From August 22 to 25 around 800 experts from around the world will attend annual meeting of the European Finance Association. For the first time the event will take place in Poland and SGH Warsaw School of Economics is the co-organizer, along with Imperial College London. The keynote speaker will be Professor Jeremy C. Stein of Harvard University. On Wednesday 22, the EFA Doctoral Tutorial and Doctoral Workshop will be held. In addition, there will be several social events, which will provide excellent opportunities to meet colleagues and to exchange ideas.
Between 6-16 August, SGH Warsaw School of Economics and College of Management in Rishon LeZion have organised EMLE Summer School. In the course of 10 days, over 50 students from Israel and Poland attended courses devoted to Law and Economics. On 16 August, the students completed classes and received the certificates. Organisational efforts were supported by SGH Students' Scientific Society of Law & Economics.
The College of Management Academic Studies (COMAS) in Rishon LeZion is an Israeli private higher education institution established in 1978. It provides instruction to 12 thousand students both at bachelor and master level.
Poland. Competitiveness Report 2018. The Role of Cities in Creating Competitive Advantages
The Canadian Executive MBA programme (CEMBA) conducted by SGH in partnership with the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) was once again ranked at the 1st place in the MBA programmes ranking by Perspektywy Education Foundation and was awarded 100 points. Our other programme – MBA-SGH – took the 7th place this year. The committee evaluated 31 MBA programmes available in Poland. The position in the ranking was determined based on teaching staff, recommendations of the alumni, content of the programme and preferences of the employers, among others. In the eyes of the employers, the SGH programmes took the top two spots and were clearly ahead of the competition.
SGH students: Aleksandra Zielonka and Rafał Remiśko – who enrolled on a double degree programme at Toulouse Business School – won the SIRIUS CHAIR award. SIRIUS CHAIR is an association by Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES), two companies operating in the field of aerospace: Airbus Defence and Space, and Thales Alenia Space, as well as two universities: Toulouse 1 Capitol University, and Toulouse Business School, with which SGH organises a double diploma programme.
In this year’s „Perspektywy” ranking, SGH Warsaw School of Economics once again took the top three spots in the category of economic programmes: Economics, Finance and Accounting, and Management. Once more, SGH was named the best economic university in Poland with an overall score of 58.6 points. The position in the general university ranking also remained unchanged as SGH was ranked at 12th place. The ranking was prepared by „Perspektywy” Educational Foundation and supervised by a committee led by prof. Michał Kleiber.
IV International Rector's Meeting Universia 2018 took place on 21-22 May in Salamanca, Spain and coincided with the 800th anniversary of the University of Salamanca. Discussion panels concerned education and research in the digital world, as well as the impact of academic community on social development. The organization of the event was aided by the Santander Universidades program. SGH was represented in Spain by Professor Jacek Prokop, Vice Rector for International Relations. The next edition of Rector's Universia will be held in 2023 in Buenos Aires.
Innovation Union in Europe: accomplishments and challenges, Warsaw, September 10, 2018
SGH Warsaw School of Economics has been awarded International Quality Re-Accreditation by CEEMAN, an international association for management development. Once again, the university affirmed its status among institutions which acquired the prestigious CEEMAN International Quality Accreditation (IQA) in recognition of the high quality of their management education.
SGH Warsaw School of Economics has begun efforts to obtain the distinction of „HR Excellence in Research” awarded by the European Commission to institutions that establish a friendly scientific work environment, improve its quality as part of ongoing research, guarantee transparent recruitment process of researchers, and provide the best working and development conditions to researchers. The first step to obtain the award will be the implementation of HRS4R Strategy and the policy of open and transparent recruitment processes (OTM-R). The implementation started on the 17th of January.
